Poly Shield® Continuous Insulation & Water Resistant Barrier Document
POLY SHIELD offers tough poly facers heat laminated to a Cellofoam Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) insulation core. Whether installed over wood sheathing or direct-to-stud (provided lateral loads are accommodated through other means), POLY SHIELD is the ideal solution for underlayment behind siding.
POLY SHIELD continuous insulation is approved for weather resistant barrier (WRB) rated assemblies when taped, eliminating
the cost, installation time, and need for a housewrap. POLY SHIELD continuous insulation complies with the model building codes when properly installed as identified in Cellofoam’s UL Evaluation Report ER7260.
POLY SHIELD’s durable poly facers are clear with the printing on one side and reflective on the other. If a reflective surface is not desired, clear poly laminate can be ordered on both sides. Standard thicknesses are 1/2”, 3/4” and 1’’. Standard density is 1.0 pcf. Other densities up to 3.0 pcf and thicknesses up to 4” are also available.
Because POLY SHIELD is made of millions of closed cells of expanded polystyrene, it has an excellent resistance to heat transfer. Not a vapor barrier.
